Lagos: The Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF), a non-governmental health organisation, has initiated a media partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to enhance the promotion of its health intervention programmes. This collaboration was proposed by Dr Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NSSF, during a courtesy visit to NAN’s Lagos office.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr Chinye-Nwoko praised NAN’s consistent and impactful reportage of news and pressing issues throughout the years and emphasized the importance of collaboration with the agency. She highlighted the critical role NAN plays in disseminating information on development issues, including health, and expressed gratitude for the agency’s openness to partnership.
Dr Chinye-Nwoko introduced NSSF as an indigenous NGO founded by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority and Global Citizens, aimed at addressing local health needs. She emphasized that NSSF’s focus is on prioritizing issues relevant to Nigeria, rather than global agendas. The organisation is committed to tackling local health challenges, such as improving healthcare access and addressing COVID-19 vaccination needs, irrespective of global funding trends.
The Head of NAN Lagos Operations, Mr Adeleye Ajayi, reaffirmed NAN’s dedication to delivering timely and accurate reports. He noted the agency’s extensive reach with offices across Nigeria and internationally in the UK, USA, and South Africa. Ajayi highlighted the expertise and agility of NAN’s reporters and editors, emphasizing the agency’s role as a key news provider to various media outlets.
NAN reports that NSSF, established in 2020, aims to empower one million young Nigerians as healthcare advocates by 2029. The fund is dedicated to creating a more equitable healthcare system in Nigeria, ensuring all communities have access to quality healthcare services.
