Oko: The Federal Polytechnic Oko Alumni Association has announced that the activities for its 40th anniversary will commence with a novelty football match. The match aims to foster unity among the alumni and celebrate the institution’s advancements in technology and innovation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made in a statement jointly signed by the association’s President, Nze Henry Nnebe, and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Victor Orji. The anniversary, themed ‘FPO Alumni @ 40: Excellence in Technology and Innovation,’ will focus on highlighting achievements in technology and innovation. The novelty match will see participation from alumni, staff, and stakeholders in a friendly encounter designed to build camaraderie before other scheduled events.
The association emphasized that this celebration is not just about reminiscing past achievements but also about setting a course for future innovation-driven development. The planned events will showcase alumni contributions to technological advancement, knowledge sharing, and institutional growth. Alumni lectures will address the theme ‘Four Decades of Excellence: Rooted in Heritage, Advancing Knowledge through Innovation and Technology.’
The three-day event, set for the last quarter of the year, will blend intellectual discussions with social and commemorative activities. Following the novelty football match, a gala night will be held to honor distinguished individuals for their contributions to the institution. The celebration’s main event will feature an anniversary lecture along with the launch of a publication titled ‘The Journey So Far.’ Additionally, notable contributors to the institution will be honored with portraits in the Alumni Museum’s Hall of Fame.
The anniversary festivities will conclude with an interdenominational thanksgiving service. The alumni association has called on stakeholders to support this initiative aimed at strengthening partnerships and promoting innovation.
