Post: PGF Calls for Transparency and Accountability Ahead of APC Congresses and Convention

Abuja: The Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) has called for transparent and coordinated management of party congresses and the forthcoming national convention. Chairman of the Forum and Imo Governor, Hope Uzodimma, made the call while presenting a communiqué after a meeting with APC leadership in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Uzodimma emphasized that transparency, consistency, and accountability must guide every stage to strengthen trust and credibility within the party. He stated that these standards should apply uniformly across all states, including those without current governors, reaffirming the PGF’s unwavering commitment to party unity and internal harmony.

Uzodimma highlighted the importance of responsible leadership, clear communication, and collective discipline to bolster public confidence in the party’s democratic processes. He reiterated the PGF’s dedication to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures, and advancing reforms that promote transpare

The governors expressed their support for a briefing on the national e-registration and digital membership update by the APC national chairman, which has seen significant growth and increased youth participation. This initiative aims to enhance data-driven planning, improve demographic insights, and strengthen grassroots engagement across communities.

Uzodimma mentioned that the governors endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for the upcoming congresses and convention. He commended the party leadership under National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for guiding the process effectively.

Strategic engagements and state visits are planned to reinforce grassroots structures and party cohesion, starting with visits to Taraba on Jan. 31. Uzodimma formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau into the Forum and reaffirmed the resolve to partner with APC leadership to advance national
development, democratic consolidation, and people-centered governance.

The governor concluded by appreciating President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating, “We will continue to partner with him to ensure good governance at all levels.”
