Jos: Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has announced that his administration is actively remodelling the Rwang Pam Township Stadium to enhance the football landscape within the state. The announcement was made following his inspection of the ongoing project at the stadium.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the governor highlighted that the extensive funds required to complete the Zaria Road Stadium have led to the decision to remodel the Rwang Pam Stadium instead. The initiative aims to elevate the status of soccer in Plateau, with aspirations to host matches of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the revamped facility. Mutfwang stated that the remodelling project is expected to be finalized by November, paving the way for various sporting activities, including indoor sports.
Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who was present during the inspection, praised the state government’s efforts. Gusau emphasized that the upgraded stadium would significantly promote soccer and grassroots sports in Plateau. He expressed optimism about the development, suggesting that the national team could potentially use the stadium for its matches, and urged the local population to support the governor’s infrastructure initiatives.
