Abuja: The Data Analytics Group for Asiwaju (DAGFA), a support group for President Bola Tinubu, has announced plans to employ a data-driven communication strategy using verified statistics to highlight the administration’s achievements in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the group’s spokesperson, Mr. Kolawole Sodipo, emphasized that DAGFA would utilize official data from reputable institutions such as the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Budget Office, and the Ministry of Finance. The aim is to ensure public discourse regarding the Tinubu administration is based on factual information rather than misinformation.
Sodipo noted that the administration’s first term has been characterized by significant structural reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market. He stated that these measures have led to improved public finances, an increase in non-oil revenue, and enhanced investor confidence. Furthermore, the administration has made strides in infrastructure development, education, housing, security, youth empowerment, and economic diversification.
Sodipo highlighted ongoing construction and rehabilitation of over 2,700 kilometers of highways and rail lines. He also mentioned that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed over N200 billion to more than 1.5 million students. Additionally, the Renewed Hope Housing Programme has delivered more than 10,000 housing units, creating over 300,000 jobs. On security, the administration has expanded military operations, increased the Nigerian Army to 12 operational divisions, and recruited over 50,000 personnel.
Mrs. Olatunbosun Akinoso acknowledged that initial reforms, such as subsidy removal and exchange rate changes, triggered inflationary pressures. However, she indicated that recent NBS data shows a moderation in core inflation and a decline in month-on-month food inflation from its 2023 peak. Akinoso expressed that these reforms aim to position the economy for long-term stability.
She emphasized the importance of sustaining current policies to consolidate progress in various sectors including the economy, infrastructure, security, and human capital development. Akinoso added that leadership continuity is essential to preserve ongoing reforms and ensure policy consistency.
Akinoso further noted that DAGFA would monitor public narratives, provide evidence-based responses to misinformation, and produce simplified communication materials such as fact sheets, infographics, and short videos. The group intends to operate within the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, subjecting all campaign materials to verification before public dissemination.
Similarly, the group’s North-West Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Maidugu, reiterated DAGFA’s commitment to research and fact-checking to ensure the credibility of its communications. Maidugu stated that information released by the group is supported by official statistics and verifiable sources, with their website and social media platforms providing references and source links for public verification.
