Post: Rivers Elders Council Supports Wike’s Initiative for Tinubu’s 2027 Reelection


Port harcourt: The Rivers Elders Council has announced its support for the ‘Renewed Hope Family’ initiative, spearheaded by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. This initiative aims to secure President Bola Tinubu’s second term in 2027.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the announcement was made during Wike’s ‘thank you’ visit to the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area in Rivers. The initiative, known as the ‘Rainbow Coalition,’ brings together members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in Rivers to ensure Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.



Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, Chairman of the council, stated that the decision to support Tinubu in 2023 had been beneficial for the state. He emphasized that the renewed hope family is the path forward for 2027, highlighting the gains made in Rivers due to this support.



Alabraba praised Wike’s political leadership, noting his ability to inspire people across different generations. He also acknowledged Wike’s efforts in promoting ethnic harmony during his tenure as governor of the multi-ethnic state of Rivers.



Mr. Major Jack, Majority Leader of the Rivers House of Assembly, commended Wike for his developmental projects as governor and expressed intent to support Tinubu again in 2027. Similarly, Mr. Lolo Opuende, representing the LGA in the State Assembly, assured Wike of the people’s unwavering support for his initiative.



Aboiya-a Bob-Fubara, Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Council, lauded Wike for his inclusive approach to governance and promised continued support to foster prosperity in the area.



In his address, Wike expressed gratitude to the people for their support since his gubernatorial bid in 2014 and for joining the rainbow coalition to back Tinubu’s reelection. He noted that Rivers is unique in having both major political parties collaborate for a common goal in 2027.
