Kaduna: The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has announced the completion of a training program for its personnel aimed at promoting revenue integrity, institutional accountability, and effective internal controls. This initiative was organized by the commission’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to strengthen governance through anti-corruption measures and audit excellence.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the five-day capacity building session took place in Kaduna and was inaugurated by Muhammad Shehu, Chairman of the commission. Shehu, represented by Ismail Agaka, Federal Commissioner for Kwara State, emphasized the constitutional responsibilities of the commission and the need for an uncompromised commitment to integrity in Nigeria’s fiscal governance.
Shehu urged officers to maintain transparency and fairness, warning against office abuse, conflicts of interest, and manipulation of processes. He stressed that combating corruption is both a personal and institutional responsibility, beyond the remit of ACTU or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) alone.
Highlighting the multifaceted nature of corruption, Shehu encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training to enhance service delivery. He emphasized that commission personnel should embody integrity and accountability in all actions.
Dr. Idris Musa, Director of Audit and Chairman of ACTU, reinforced the unit’s commitment to embedding transparency and accountability within the commission’s operations. He encouraged participants to disseminate the knowledge acquired and resist practices that undermine due process.
Ms. Nabila Abubakar, a participant from the Kaduna State Directorate of RMAFC, expressed that the training provided valuable insights for strengthening organizational integrity. She noted the importance of public visibility in promoting integrity and tackling graft practices.
Another participant, Aminu Imam, underscored the importance of accountability, transparency, and integrity in public institutions, particularly in revenue mobilisation and fiscal efficiency. He highlighted that applying these principles would ensure proper management of public funds and enhance the commission’s effectiveness.
The training was attended by RMAFC personnel from the North-West zone, who expressed confidence that the exercise would improve staff performance and institutional integrity.
