Jeddah: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah conducted its 50th Grand Hajj Symposium in Jeddah, gathering ministers, scholars, thinkers, researchers, and specialists from the Islamic world.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the symposium was an initiative reflecting the Saudi government’s ongoing support in enhancing the pilgrimage experience for Muslims worldwide. It focused on Saudi Arabia’s historical efforts in improving services for pilgrims and the significant impact on their behaviors and overall experience. The discussions highlighted the role of knowledge, innovation, data, and modern technology in boosting operational efficiency and shaping the future of Hajj services.
Key speakers included Tawfiq Al Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, and Sheikh Salih Al Fawzan, the Chairman of the Saudi Council of Senior Scholars and the Mufti of Saudi Arabia. The event also featured representatives from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), including Prof. Musa Fodio, a board member representing Jamatul Nasirul Islam, who led the Nigerian delegation.
Prof. Fodio stated that the symposium stressed the importance of compliance with scientifically determined Hajj operation rules and guidelines. He noted the implementation of control rooms for monitoring adherence to these regulations, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter. The symposium aimed to motivate participants to engage, enlighten, and guide pilgrims on these rules.
Additionally, discussions addressed the logistics of ram slaughtering during Hajj. Prof. Fodio explained that the process is transparent, with the number of rams slaughtered matching the number of payments made. The system ensures international assistance and fair redistribution of meat, providing access to those who have participated in the slaughter.
