Ankara: Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday praised Turkish President Recep Erdogan’s leadership, and solicited deeper economic, political, and security cooperation between the two countries. ‘I am truly very pleased to be here,’ Vucic said at the Presidential Complex in Ankara during a joint press conference with Erdogan.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Vucic described their talks as ‘a very open and sincere dialogue’ between two long-time friends who speak ‘with great respect for one another.’ He emphasized his regard for Erdogan, acknowledging him as a leader not only of Turkey but also of the region and with global influence. Vucic noted the significance of the discussions and conclusions reached, underscoring their importance.
Vucic highlighted Turkey as an important partner for Serbia, citing its influence in the economy, defense industry, and technology. He mentioned the investments made by Turkish companies in various parts of Serbia, especially in the less developed southern regions, which have created significant job opportunities.
The Serbian leader also pointed out major infrastructure projects involving Turkish public institutions and private firms, including developments in road and railway sectors. He expressed hope for Erdogan’s next visit to Serbia, anticipating it would be marked by significant agreements.
Vucic voiced his support for Erdogan’s Balkan Peace Platform initiative, emphasizing the critical nature of regional cooperation.
