Abuja: The Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has called upon justice sector stakeholders to embrace accountable, responsive, and transformative solutions to improve service delivery. Fagbemi made this appeal during a retreat organized by the ministry in Abuja, focusing on streamlining the ministry’s 2026 performance management cycle in line with Presidential Priorities and sector-specific deliverables.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Fagbemi emphasized the necessity of recalibrating the justice system to achieve maximum impact and service excellence nationwide. He highlighted the importance of addressing issues such as weak systems, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and gaps in internal coordination and inter-agency collaboration, which have often eroded public confidence in institutions. Fagbemi stated that the administration has outlined clear priorities, including good governance, economic transformation, and the strengthening of the rule of law, to ensure effective service delivery. He described the retreat as a strategic gathering aimed at recalibrating the justice system for greater impact and service excellence.
Fagbemi reminded the leaders of organizations within the justice sector of their responsibility to ensure that citizens benefit from a functional justice system. He asserted that citizens deserve a justice system that operates efficiently, delivers fairly, and maintains unwavering integrity.
The Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Beatrice Jedi-Agba, also addressed the gathering, praising the ministry for its meticulous preparation of the retreat. Jedi-Agba stressed the importance of devising a roadmap with practical, measurable steps towards a more efficient justice administration system. She urged participants to remain committed to achieving transformative results for the nation.
