Onueke: The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, stated on Saturday that the South-Eastern region of Nigeria will remain loyal to President Bola Tinubu, driven by the significant federal government projects underway in the area. Umahi made this assertion during an inspection tour of federal projects in Ebonyi, conducted by the Renewed Hope National Media Tour team.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the major projects reviewed during the tour include the dualisation of the Onueke highway and fly-over, as well as the Abakaliki-Afikpo-Ndibe Beach Trans-Sahara Highway. Sen. Umahi highlighted the strategic importance of the Onueke highway project, underscoring its potential to boost economic growth and describing it as one of President Tinubu’s legacy projects for the South-East region. “This road aims at improving transportation and driving the economic growth of the country,” Umahi noted.
Furthermore, Mr. Maxwell Okonkwo, the Acting Federal Controller of Works in Ebonyi, elaborated on the specifics of the Onueke flyover. He mentioned that the 90-meter flyover, accompanied by 2.2 kilometers of side roads, was designed to ease traffic congestion on the route. Okonkwo emphasized the project’s role in stimulating economic activity, particularly in facilitating the transport of agricultural produce and minerals such as granite and lead to neighboring states.
In addition, Mr. Ali Moses, a resident of Abaomege Community in Onicha Local Government Area, praised the federal government’s projects, especially the Abakaliki-Apkooha-Afikpo highway. “I thank God that the construction of the road is happening in my time. It’s a good thing for our people and the entire southeastern region,” Moses expressed to NAN.
