Abuja: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abbas Tajudeen, has condemned the bomb explosion in Zamfara State that resulted in the death of seven individuals. Suspected terrorists planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Magami-Dansadau highway in the Maru Local Government Area, targeting a bus on Saturday.
According to Voice of Nigeria, Speaker Abbas labeled the attack as cowardly and lamented its occurrence shortly after a joint operation against terrorism was launched by the Nigerian and American governments. The operation, which took place on Thursday, involved strikes on terrorist hideouts in parts of the North-West.
Speaker Abbas expressed his determination to resist terrorism, banditry, and other crimes against the state. He highlighted the introduction of new strategic security measures by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration aimed at curbing criminal activities. The Speaker emphasized that Nigerians are more supportive than ever of government efforts to combat threats to life and property.
He reiterated the commitment of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly to provide legislative and budgetary support to ensure a safe and secure Nigeria. Speaker Abbas also prayed to Allah (SWT) for the repose of the victims’ souls and extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected, as well as to the people and government of Zamfara State.
