Post: TAJBank and NAHCON Collaborate on Hajj Savings Scheme to Ease Pilgrimage Costs

Abuja: TAJBank Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS). The Managing Director/CEO of TAJBank, Mr. Hamid Joda, announced this development in Abuja during the MoU signing.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Joda highlighted that this partnership aligns with TAJBank’s commitment to ethical banking and supporting sustainable development initiatives in Nigeria. He explained that the agreement would help TAJBank expand its socio-economic interventions to aspiring pilgrims across the nation, particularly amid rising airfare costs.

Mr. Joda emphasized the challenges potential pilgrims face due to increasing pilgrimage expenses and noted that the MoU with NAHCON is consistent with TAJBank’s mission to assist those in need. He stated that TAJBank plans to utilize its digital platforms and branch networks to make the Hajj Savings Scheme accessible to grassroots communities, facilitating easier travel funding for intending pilgrims. Joda encouraged Muslims planning to undertake Hajj to consider TAJBank as their primary financial partner.

NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, remarked that the Hajj Savings Scheme provides a structured pathway for pilgrims in Nigeria. Usman pointed out that awareness and funding limitations previously hindered many prospective pilgrims from enrolling. He stated that the collaboration with TAJBank and other non-interest banks will enhance the commission’s efforts in raising awareness. This will be achieved through engagement with religious leaders and the use of traditional and digital media platforms to inform the public about the scheme’s long-term benefits.

Prof. Usman commended TAJBank and other partnering banks for their collaboration with NAHCON, contributing to efforts aimed at making Hajj more accessible and manageable for intending pilgrims.
