Abakaliki: President Bola Tinubu has allocated over N86 billion for the payment of school fees and upkeep of more than 400,000 students nationwide. This announcement was made by Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, during his visit to Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi in Abakaliki.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the minister and his team are visiting Ebonyi as part of a tour to inspect Federal Government projects and engage with citizens in the state. During this visit, Idris highlighted that students from across the country, including those from Ebonyi and other southeastern states, have benefited from Tinubu’s NELFUND programme.
Idris emphasized that the President’s initiative addresses the issue where students with the necessary qualifications for tertiary education were previously unable to attend due to financial constraints. He noted that this situation is now a thing of the past, as eligible students can apply to NELFUND without needing any personal connections.
Idris further explained that President Tinubu has designed this programme to be inclusive for all Nigerians, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent students from pursuing higher education. The N86 billion allocation underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of students across the nation.
