Post: Tinubu Applauds Bank of Industry for Record N636 Billion Loan Disbursement to 7,000 Firms in 2025

Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has commended the Bank of Industry (BoI) for disbursing N636 billion to businesses in 2025, marking the highest annual financing volume in its history. This achievement underscores ongoing macroeconomic reforms that are bolstering development finance institutions and unlocking capital for productive sectors across Nigeria.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the N636 billion was allocated to over 7,000 enterprises nationwide, with N202 billion directed towards agro-allied enterprises and N100 billion supporting critical infrastructure such as broadband, power, aviation, and transportation. The allocation also included N79 billion for manufacturing, N77 billion for extractive industries, and N55 billion for services. Additionally, the bank managed N73 billion in matching funds on behalf of state governments and institutional partners.

President Tinubu highlighted that BoI’s financial support translated directly into increased productive capacity and economic growth. The distribution of funds also demonstrated an inclusion strategy, with nano enterprises receiving N51 billion, micro businesses N32 billion, small and medium enterprises N178 billion, and large enterprises N375 billion.

Under the Federal Government’s N200 billion MSME intervention programme, BoI achieved over 95 percent performance as the disbursing institution. The Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme reached 957,400 beneficiaries in 2025 alone. BoI’s financing activities contributed to the creation and retention of approximately 1.6 million jobs, benefiting over 7,000 MSMEs and 570 startups.

Women-owned enterprises were supported through the Guaranteed Loans for Women Programme, while youth-owned enterprises received N12 billion. Furthermore, 880 rural enterprises accessed over N6.5 billion under the Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development. The bank’s interventions included upgrading a tomato processing facility and supporting the deployment of 100 mini-grids, which connected new customers and reduced carbon emissions.

BoI maintained strong asset quality with a non-performing loan ratio below 1.5 percent. The bank also secured a two billion euro syndicated facility in 2024 and mobilised an additional 210 million euro from international partners in 2025.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of disciplined and measurable development finance aligned with national priorities. He welcomed BoI’s designation as Nigeria’s first National Implementing Entity to the UN Adaptation Fund and its recognition for sustainable finance. The administration remains committed to consolidating reform gains and expanding credit access to accelerate industrialization and inclusive growth.
