Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has staunchly defended his administration’s focus on infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting its importance for economic progress and enhanced quality of life. Tinubu’s comments were delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the inauguration of Collector Roads 01 and 02 in the Mabushi District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the President emphasised the critical role infrastructure plays in a modern economy, highlighting that the Renewed Hope Agenda is making a tangible impact through enhanced road systems, connectivity, and mobility. “Renewed Hope is not just a slogan. It is the road you drive on, the ease with which you get to work, and the confidence that government is working for you,” he stated. Tinubu elaborated that the newly completed roads in Mabushi have created vital links, improving traffic flow and connectivity to the broader FCT.
The President underscored how infrastructure serves as the “veins of commerce, the bridges of unity, and the channels through which our people pursue their dreams without fear or delay.” He noted the roads’ contribution to strengthening interconnectivity within the district and their role in the larger development of the nation’s capital. Tinubu recalled the challenges residents faced with traffic congestion and poor connectivity prior to this intervention, emphasizing his administration’s vision of a world-class capital that serves all residents equitably.
Expressing gratitude to FCT residents for their patience during construction, Tinubu assured that more development projects would be forthcoming. He also praised the efforts of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for advancing infrastructure development across the territory. “I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it,” Tinubu commended.
Minister Wike echoed the President’s sentiments, aligning the commissioning of the roads with the directive to enhance infrastructure across the FCT. He attributed the progress to Tinubu’s leadership and called on Nigerians to support ongoing projects. Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, described the project as a significant milestone in opening up communities and boosting economic activity, extending her appreciation to the President and Vice President for their support.
