Maiduguri: President Bola Tinubu on Saturday praised Governor Babagana Zulum for his continuous investments in education, health, and transportation aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of Borno residents. The commendation came as Tinubu inaugurated various projects, including electric vehicles, intra-state buses, tricycles, and three model schools catering to primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels, all established by the state government.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, during the inauguration of the electric vehicles, Tinubu highlighted that these smart and visionary projects are designed to facilitate intra-city transportation and provide economic empowerment for residents. He emphasized that such investments are in line with his administration’s commitment to fostering inclusive development and promoting sustainable urban mobility across the nation.
In addition to the inaugurations, President Tinubu participated in the marriage ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride, Hadiza Kam Salem. In adherence to Kanuri cultural traditions, Tinubu stood in as the groom’s father, while Governor Zulum represented the bride’s family to accept the traditional bride price.
The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar El-Kanemi, hosted the matrimonial event at the Maiduguri Central Mosque. The ceremony saw the attendance of several governors, including Dikko Radda of Katsina, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
