Abuja: Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing the lives of FCT residents through the delivery of transformative infrastructure projects in Abuja and its satellite towns. Wike made these remarks while addressing residents during a project inspection in Abuja, urging them to continue their prayers and support for Tinubu’s administration.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike assured residents living along the ongoing construction corridor from Kubwa to Bwari that Tinubu is dedicated to completing all road projects, particularly in satellite towns. The minister expressed confidence that these ongoing interventions would further stimulate economic growth and improve living standards throughout the FCT.
Wike emphasized the importance of continued support and prayers for Tinubu, highlighting the inspection of several road projects, including the Karu, Apo to Kashi road, and Bwari to Kubwa road, which encompass major road corridors extending over 30 kilometers. He stressed that Tinubu’s administration is poised to achieve even more progress.
The minister noted that many affected communities are witnessing such development for the first time, attributing the massive infrastructural advancements and their palpable impact on residents’ lives as key factors in winning voters’ trust. He stated, “The transformation under this administration has earned the people’s trust.”
Wike explained that the administration’s focus is on extending development beyond the city center to rural and satellite communities, asserting that these areas are integral parts of Abuja and deserve improved living conditions. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing projects, noting residents’ positive reactions.
Addressing concerns about real estate developers in the FCT, Wike dismissed calls for a new regulatory agency, arguing that existing institutions are sufficient. He remarked, “The problem in Nigeria is the proliferation of agencies. Creating more agencies won’t solve the problem.”
He emphasized the role of the Department of Development Control in regulating physical planning and ensuring compliance with the Abuja Master Plan. Wike assured that the FCT Administration is committed to addressing complaints and protecting citizens from exploitation, including ensuring refunds where necessary.
The minister called for unity and support for the Tinubu administration, emphasizing that national development requires collective effort. He concluded, “This is a period for everyone to work together and support the government. The focus is on improving Nigeria, particularly in security.”
