Abuja: Toastline Magazine has honoured late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications, Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd.), and others, describing them as strong advocates and defenders of democracy. The Publisher, Akinyele Babarinsa, stated that these prominent Nigerians were recognized for their distinguished services to the nation during a ceremony held in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the honour was conferred on them at the magazine’s 2025 annual lecture themed ‘Life is Full of Dynamics’. Babarinsa highlighted the lecture’s focus on change as an essential force in human life. Mrs. Ngozi Odili, Principal Partner and Director of BAUN Robotics Ltd., served as a guest lecturer, emphasizing life’s constant motion and the importance of embracing change for progress and survival.
Odili elaborated that life is driven by both internal and external dynamics, which propel growth and transformation. She argued that change should be seen as an opportunity rather than a threat, illustrating her point with examples of technological advancements that have replaced older systems, such as how smartphones and digital platforms have made previous tools obsolete. She encouraged Nigerians to adapt and look forward to the future, noting BAUN Robotics’ role in promoting AI education as crucial for preparing for upcoming challenges.
The recognition of Gen. Musa as a democracy champion was deemed paradoxical given his military background. However, Odili noted his unwavering commitment to democratic principles justified the honour. She also paid tribute to the late Dokpesi, recognizing his pioneering contributions to private broadcasting in Nigeria and his enduring legacy through his son, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr.
Additionally, the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Digital Economy, Hannat Musawa, received an Uncommon Service Award for her dedication to public service, continuing her late father’s legacy.
