The Bachama Traditional Council in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State has thrown it’s weight to support Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC in it’s effort to safeguard electricity infrastructure in the community.
At a stakeholder sensitisation event in Numan on the importance of safe guarding power assets and improving electricity supply, the council noted the critical role of electricity in sustaining their livelihoods and businesses.
The District Heads under the Bachama kingdom reaffirmed their commitment to create local security mechanisms to prevent vandalism and other forms of asset damage to the power infrastructure within their domain.
YEDC officials at the event announced to the community leaders on the company’s 24-hour customer service centre, complaint redress mechanisms, feeder sensitisation and the banding system.
The council called for more engagement to aid customers understand and be involved in combatting power theft, vandalism and assaults on YEDC personnel-offences wh
ich carry strict legal implications, under the new Electricity Act.
YEDC urged customers to increase their responses on bill payment to mitigate financial losses for the company, enabling it to replace faulty equipment and improve supplies to their homes and businesses.
Customers were further encouraged to adopt the company’s e-payment platforms, such as the BuyPower app or over-the-counter payments at YEDC offices.
While expressing their desire for an improved supply from YEDC, the leaders committed themselves to pass the information discussed to their respective communities.
