Abuja: Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully thwarted an attempted terrorist infiltration on a military base and evacuated 21 female students to safety following actionable intelligence on a planned attack in Borno. According to News Agency of Nigeria, the latest operational reports revealed that the troops also captured a suspected cross-border kidnapper operating between Nigeria and Cameroon.
The report detailed that troops from the 3 Battalion at Forward Operating Base Logomani identified ISWAP/JAS terrorists attempting to encircle their position via CCTV surveillance. The troops engaged the terrorists in combat, compelling them to withdraw before they could execute their planned infiltration.
Furthermore, the report indicated that troops from Sector 3 acted swiftly upon receiving intelligence that seven suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists carrying improvised explosive devices were spotted near the Water Board IDP Camp in Monguno. The troops immediately evacuated 21 female students who were staying nearby to Kinnasara Barracks. During the evacuation, three students experienced seizures but were stabilized at a hospital, and security around the area was reinforced.
In a separate operation, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with local hunters, encountered terrorists in Surajo village, located in Askira Uba Local Government Area of the state. The terrorists retreated, leaving behind three bicycles and two coolers.
The report also noted the arrest of a suspected kidnapper by troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion and hunters at Gaya in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa. The suspect confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate operating from the Solere Forest in Cameroon, crossing into Nigeria for abductions.
In other operations, troops of Operation MESA, in conjunction with police and vigilantes, rescued a kidnap victim along the Koton Karfe-Okparake Road in Kogi, apprehending three suspected terrorists in the process. Items recovered from the suspects included one Dane gun, one motorcycle, three mobile phones, and ?23,000. The rescued victim has since been reunited with his family.
In Kebbi, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to terrorist activities along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area, engaging the terrorists and forcing them to flee, leaving behind two motorcycles.
