Lagos: Veteran Nigerian singer Atiwaje Iruobe, known widely as Waje, has marked her 45th birthday with an exclusive first look at her upcoming film, ‘The Four’.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the celebrated singer shared a sneak peek of the movie in a post on her verified Instagram account, @officialwaje. In the post, she expressed that unveiling ‘The Four’ was a meaningful way to celebrate her milestone birthday, emphasizing her appreciation for the creative opportunities she has been given.
In her Instagram message, Waje wrote, “It’s my birthday today, and sharing this first glimpse of ‘The Four’ with you feels like a pretty beautiful way to celebrate.” She hinted at the themes explored in the film, stating, “Different faces, different stories, different battles. Every face has a story. Every moment means something, and this is only the beginning.”
‘The Four: No One Fights Alone’ is a highly anticipated feature film produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV) and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment. It is set to premiere in cinemas worldwide on December 11. The film stars notable Nollywood actors including Funke Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Waje herself.
The drama focuses on themes of friendship, motherhood, resilience, and the strength of ordinary women, with its narrative transitioning between the Odu Community and urban settings.
Waje, who was born on September 1, 1980, in Akure, Ondo State, has established herself as a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene. Her powerful vocals first gained widespread attention with her feature on P-Square’s ‘Omoge Mi’, and she continued to garner fame with appearances on songs such as ‘Do Me’, ‘Thief My Kele’, and ‘One Naira’.
Expanding her artistic pursuits, Waje ventured into acting with her role in the 2014 film ‘Tunnel’ and later in the Africa Magic television production ‘Battleground’. In 2016, she further solidified her versatility by serving as a coach on the first season of ‘The Voice Nigeria’, which premiered in April of that year.
