Gwagwalada: Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to provide clean water to the Zuba community and enhance infrastructure in Gwagwalada Area Council. Wike made these commitments during a visit to Gwagwalada stakeholders, expressing gratitude for their support of President Bola Tinubu’s candidates in the recent FCT area council elections held on February 21.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, despite the Chairman-elect, Mr. Kasim Mohammed, winning the election on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, he has pledged his support for Tinubu as part of a rainbow coalition. Wike expressed concern over the lack of clean water in Zuba and assured residents that this issue would be addressed. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing critical projects, advising the chairman-elect to collaborate with community members post-inauguration to identify urgent needs.
Wike also approved the elevation of the Gbagyi traditional leader in Gwagwalada West to a third-class chief, fulfilling a request made by Mohammed. He commended the electorate for their choice of Mohammed as chairman, highlighting his diligence and urging collaboration to ensure infrastructure development in Gwagwalada communities.
The Minister appreciated the warm reception from the community, interpreting it as a sign of their satisfaction. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, stating, “When we came here during the campaign, we said – vote for us, and you have done it. So, it is our own duty now to pay you back.”
Earlier, Mohammed assured Wike of his alignment with the rainbow coalition’s goals for governance beyond party lines. He requested further infrastructure, including a bridge, road projects, and the provision of clean water for Zuba. The Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Mohammed Magaji, expressed gratitude for Wike’s support and the elevation of traditional leaders, pledging ongoing backing for Tinubu’s administration.
