Lagos: The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos East chapter, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. The council emphasized the importance of having the next governor of Lagos State emerge from Ikorodu, citing its loyalty and significant contributions to electoral victories.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Asoro Abubakar, Vice Chairman of Lagos East NYCN, highlighted these points during a mega rally organized by the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ikorodu. Abubakar praised President Tinubu for his inclusive legislative approach, which has resonated positively with the people and encouraged new members to join the APC through ongoing e-registration efforts. He noted that Ikorodu deserves recognition for its high voter turnout during the 2023 general election.
Abubakar also remarked on the initiatives introduced by President Tinubu, such as student loans and youth appointments in core ministries, which reflect the president’s commitment to youth inclusion. He acknowledged the exceptional representation by Ikorodu Division lawmakers, Sen. Mukhail Abiru and Rep. Babajimi Benson.
Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, addressed the need for peace and unity within the party, noting that a cohesive party is essential for electoral success. He praised the Ikorodu division for its efforts in mobilizing support and increasing registration during the APC e-registration exercise.
Sen. Abiru urged APC members to focus on grassroots mobilization to consolidate the party’s gains, underscoring the importance of unity for the upcoming elections. He assured Lagos residents that ongoing reforms would foster sustainable growth.
Rep. Benson highlighted the positive outcomes of subsidy removal and reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration, citing improvements in foreign exchange stability, security, and infrastructure. He outlined his achievements, including building schools and hospitals and securing employment for constituents.
Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, pointing to strong party structures, youth-focused policies, and increased women’s inclusion as key factors.
