Ilorin: A cleric, Pastor Adebisi Oluwaseyi, has urged Nigerians to show love to the less privileged in spite of the current economic situation in the country. Oluwaseyi, a pastor with the Living Faith Church, made the call at the presentation of food items to 1,000 indigent people in Kwara by the Peter and Deborah Charity Mission.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the distribution cut across religious inclinations, tribe, and political affiliations. The pastor emphasized the importance of recognizing that it is not individuals who sustain themselves, but rather a higher power, and encouraged those with means to extend love to the less privileged.
Oluwaseyi commended the foundation for its humanitarian gesture, noting that it was an annual event. Mr. Ademola Gbenle, the founder of the mission, explained that the program is held annually in loving memory of their late parents, Pa Peter and Madam Deborah Gbenle.
The founder, represented by his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Ajiboye, stated that the charity mission had been ongoing for the past 10 years. Ajiboye clarified that the purpose of the event is to distribute food items and cash to people, emphasizing that it is not a political event and there are no political motives behind it. The goal is simply to bring happiness to people.
Gbenle described his parents as individuals who were passionate about caring for the indigent and were known for their generosity during their lifetime. He expressed that the charity act is a tribute to their compassionate nature.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the items distributed to beneficiaries included rice, beans, vegetable oil, gari, semovita, condiments, and cash.
