Post: Abuja: NASS to Conduct Training for MDAs on Legislative Compliance and Resolution Adherence

The National Assembly of Nigeria has announced its plan to conduct a training program for heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on the importance of legislative compliance. The training, set to take place on November 7 and 8, aims to address the growing concerns about MDAs’ non-compliance with resolutions passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives. This initiative is in collaboration with Green Mount Consulting Ltd., as stated in a statement by Alhaji Mohammed Aminu, Managing Partner of GMCL, in Abuja on Sunday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the workshop is themed “The imperatives of legislative compliance in deepening democracy and enhancing good governance.” The primary goal is to foster a dialogue among MDAs to develop effective solutions that align government actions with legislative decisions. This workshop is expected to be a platform for comprehensive discussions, sharing of knowledge, and formulating practical strategies for legislative compliance.

The training session is anticipated to be attended by several notable figures, including the Senate President, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission. The workshop will delve into various topics, encompassing the legal framework for legislative compliance, roles and responsibilities of different government entities, and case studies demonstrating successful compliance initiatives.

Through panel discussions, expert presentations, and interactive sessions, participants are expected to gain an enhanced understanding of the crucial role of legislative compliance in strengthening democracy and promoting good governance in Nigeria.

Aminu emphasized that the workshop could mark a significant turning point in addressing legislative compliance issues in the country. He stressed that adherence to legislative mandates is fundamental to the democratic process and the realization of effective governance. The training is seen as a step toward fostering a more accountable and transparent government, ultimately serving the Nigerian populace.

The expected outcome of this training is to equip the heads of MDAs with the knowledge and tools necessary to prioritize legislative compliance, thereby contributing to shaping the nation’s future within a framework of lawful governance and democratic principles.
