Post: AFCON 2025: Football Enthusiasts Laud Chelle as Super Eagles Soar in Marrakech


Marrakech: Football enthusiasts in Morocco have praised Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle after Nigeria’s quarter-final victory over Algeria at the ongoing AFCON in Marrakech. The win secured Nigeria’s record 16th AFCON semi-final appearance, setting up a last-four clash with hosts Morocco.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Chelle, who recently marked one year in charge, has been widely commended for turning the Super Eagles into a cohesive and disciplined side. A cross-section of Nigerian fans told NAN in Marrakech that Chelle has restored belief, identity, and confidence to the national team.



President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, described the victory as a reward for patience and planning. Ladipo stated, “This Super Eagles team now plays with purpose, courage and discipline. You can see organisation, teamwork and hunger. This is not accidental.” He emphasized that the coach has earned the trust of players and fans, urging the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to protect the project for sustained success.



Rev. Samuel Ikpea, National Chairman of the NFSC, remarked that the team’s performance brought joy to Nigerians worldwide. He said, “This is football that unites the nation and lifts our spirits. Chelle has restored confidence, discipline and mental strength to the Super Eagles.” Ikpea praised the players’ attitude against Algeria and expressed optimism ahead of the semi-final, believing that with this mindset, Nigeria can defeat any team in Africa.



Lily Grace, a UK-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, lauded Chelle for his leadership qualities. She noted, “Chelle has shown that strong leadership and clear vision can rebuild confidence in any team. What we see on the pitch reflects what discipline and planning can achieve in society.” According to her, the Eagles’ performance inspires Nigerians in the diaspora, making them feel proud and emotionally connected again.



Femi Oyelade, a multimedia consultant and creative content developer from Abuja, urged continued backing for the coach. Oyelade highlighted that Chelle’s approach encourages young Nigerians and deserves full support, emphasizing that the team’s progress shows planning and vision.



Abdulrahman Sadiq, a fan from Kano, noted Chelle’s transformation of Nigeria’s playing style, describing the team as fearless and organized. Chinedu Okafor from Anambra praised the team’s unity and clarity, thanking Chelle for restoring Nigeria’s status as a giant of African football. Musa Bello from Katsina highlighted the significance of beating Algeria and stressed the need for continuity, stating that proper funding will elevate the team further.
