Abuja: The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced the approval of free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses distributed across the nation’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This initiative was revealed by the Registrar-General, Mr. Hussaini Magaji, during the commission’s 35th anniversary celebration held in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the program is designed to encourage the formalization of small enterprises, thereby broadening access to government services and economic opportunities. Mr. Magaji emphasized that this effort reflects the commission’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship, reducing business costs, and promoting inclusive economic growth.
Mr. Magaji also highlighted that the CAC has transformed into a technology-driven institution, prioritizing efficiency, transparency, and adherence to global best practices. As part of its educational support initiatives, the commission has approved scholarships for six outstanding corporate law students from the Nigerian Law School for the 2026 academic year.
Furthermore, the CAC is set to make a social impact by donating 120 mattresses to an Internally Displaced Persons Camp and offering support to orphanages. In a bid to enhance its technology framework, the commission plans to sign a collaboration letter with Google, aiming to improve portal performance and ease the process of doing business in Nigeria.
Additionally, Mr. Magaji announced the launch of a redesigned website equipped with new digital tools, including an AI Lawyer and a business name generator. These tools are expected to provide instant guidance on CAC laws and procedures and facilitate the reservation of scalable business names.
