Abuja: Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised the Traditional Ruler of the Nupe people, Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Yahaya Abubakar, for his role in fostering peace and unity. The minister highlighted the monarch’s significant contributions to the development of the Nupe Kingdom, Niger state, and the nation.
According to Voice of Nigeria, the Information Minister expressed these sentiments while congratulating the monarch on his 73rd birthday, marking 22 years on the throne as the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers. Idris emphasized the monarch’s dedication to peace and unity, noting his leadership has guided Nupeland to substantial growth over the past 22 years.
The Minister also acknowledged the Etsu Nupe’s contributions to national unity, citing his military service up to the rank of Brigadier General, and his role as the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria. He extended his well-wishes to the monarch, expressing hopes for continued guidance and strength in his leadership.
