Abuja: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has announced a comprehensive administrative and technical review of its fire router system, aiming for an upgrade to enhance operational efficiency. The Director of the FCT Fire Service, ACG Zaccheaus Adebayo, revealed this development during a news briefing in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the upgrade involves a detailed assessment of the current operational framework of the fire router system. Introduced in 2024 in partnership with Prime Alert Secure Ltd under the FCT Fire Emergency Monitoring Gateway project, the router system enables real-time fire detection and instant alert transmission, significantly reducing response times. Adebayo emphasized that the review is essential to align the system with the fire service’s strategic objectives, operational standards, and public interest.
Adebayo highlighted the necessity of upgrading the routers, which were produced several years ago, to keep pace with technological advancements. He assured the public that existing users should retain their installed devices pending further guidance from the service. He encouraged patience as the service evaluates service continuity and future operational arrangements.
Subscribers nearing renewal are advised to seek clarification through official FCT fire service communication channels before committing to long-term subscriptions. Adebayo reassured the public that decisions regarding the fire router service will prioritize enhancing public safety and service delivery.
The director urged the public to continue reporting fire emergencies, affirming that emergency fire reporting and response services remain fully operational. He called for institutional support and increased government attention to help the service fulfill its mandate and better serve FCT residents.
Adebayo stressed the importance of modernizing and replacing aging equipment and firefighting appliances, appealing for increased funding to enhance emergency preparedness, operational efficiency, equipment maintenance, and fire prevention programs. He advocated for continuous capacity development and specialized training for firefighters to equip them with modern techniques and strategies.
The director also emphasized the need for recruiting additional personnel to meet the growing demands of the expanding FCT and improve emergency response coverage. He highlighted the necessity of acquiring modern firefighting equipment and technologies, such as aerial ladder platforms, water tenders, communication systems, drones, and other contemporary tools to bolster operational capacity.
Adebayo concluded by underscoring the significance of a well-equipped fire service as an investment in public safety, economic stability, investor confidence, and national resilience. He assured residents of the service’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement.
