Post: FCTA Approves N1.1bn for Communication Gadgets to Enhance Security in FCT

Abuja: The Executive Committee of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has sanctioned a contract worth N1.1 billion for the urgent procurement of communication gadgets and associated equipment for security agencies operating within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Musa Onsachi, the FCTA Director of Procurement, disclosed the approval following a committee meeting led by the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, in Abuja. Onsachi highlighted the necessity of this initiative to bolster the operational capabilities of security agencies in the FCT, aiming to close the existing equipment gaps that hinder their efficiency.

Upon assuming office in August 2023, Minister Wike identified a significant deficit in essential communication tools and equipment crucial for executing effective security operations. Onsachi emphasized that this procurement would empower security agencies to perform their duties with greater efficacy.

The News Agency of Nigeria also noted that in July 2024, the FCT Minister had distributed 50 operational vehicles equipped with communication devices to security agencies, reinforcing efforts to combat insecurity within the territory.
