Abuja:The Federal Government is stepping up its efforts to boost accountability, efficiency, and measurable performance across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Princess Zahrah Audu, the Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), emphasized these initiatives during a high-level strategic engagement in Abuja. The event, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Finance, focused on improving institutional performance and ensuring continuous compliance with government reforms.
During the engagement, Audu presented findings from the Business Environment Enhancement Programme Accelerator (BEEPA), which highlighted both progress and persistent service delivery gaps across MDAs. She noted that 16 MDAs had achieved full implementation of assessed reforms, but recent mystery shopping findings indicated a decline in responsiveness after active monitoring concluded, emphasizing the importance of sustained institutional performance rather than periodic compliance checks.
Audu also reminded MDA heads about the ongoing mystery shopping exercises, the live performance tracker, and the upcoming year-end Business Facilitation Act (BFA) Compliance Ranking. These mechanisms are designed to monitor institutional performance, identify service delivery gaps, and ensure accountability for reform commitments.
The engagement underscored the Federal Ministry of Finance’s growing focus on agency performance, responsiveness, and reform compliance, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s stance that non-performance within government institutions will not be tolerated. PEBEC will continue to use mystery shopping, digital performance tracking, and data-driven assessments to identify implementation gaps and enhance service delivery.
The council remains committed to collaborating with government institutions to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and the business environment for citizens and enterprises.
