Post: Olubadan Urges Support for Skill Empowerment Initiatives

Ibadan:The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on influential Nigerians and organizations to enhance their support for practical and income-generating skills development.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ladoja made this appeal during a courtesy visit by Dr. Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education. The visit aimed to brief the Olubadan on the Federal Government’s ongoing vocational training and empowerment initiative in Ibadan.

The initiative focuses on training in fashion design, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and makeup artistry. Ladoja emphasized that such programs are crucial for reducing poverty and unemployment and encouraged individuals and organizations to follow the government’s example in supporting these efforts.

He highlighted that vocational skills can provide sustainable income sources, helping Nigerians seek alternative livelihoods. During the visit, Arogundade informed the Olubadan about the upcoming grand finale of the 10-day vocational training for 200 youths in Oyo State, scheduled for Friday.

Arogundade, an Ibadan native, stressed the importance of informing the Olubadan about significant local empowerment programs. She noted that the trained participants would receive work tools to help them become self-sufficient, with an additional 700 people set to receive tablets at the program’s conclusion.

The vocational skills training commenced on September 28 in Ibadan.
