Abuja:The Forum of Governorship Candidates of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) has emphasized the importance of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 for the advancement of Nigeria’s economy and infrastructure. During a news conference held in Abuja, Mr. Aboki Bayonga, the chairman of the forum and its Taraba governorship candidate, expressed this stance.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Bayonga announced that the forum intends to collaborate with Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political pressure group, to support Tinubu’s re-election campaign. This decision stems from DLA’s lack of a presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 presidential election, although the party does have senatorial, House of Assembly, and 15 governorship candidates across the country.
Bayonga explained that the party members have chosen to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support Tinubu in the general election. He affirmed that the forum is backing President Tinubu as their candidate through the platform of Arewa for Asiwaju, emphasizing their belief in his continued leadership.
Highlighting the achievements of the Tinubu administration, Bayonga noted the introduction of the Education Loans Scheme, which eases financial burdens on students and their parents seeking higher education. Additionally, he praised the administration’s efforts in infrastructure, citing completed and ongoing road and rail projects across the nation.
The forum, in partnership with A4A, plans to leverage their political structures and grassroots influence to gather support and votes, particularly from the 19 northern states, to ensure Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 elections.
