Accra:Rivers The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has commenced efforts to educate voters across Rivers State on the Rainbow Coalition’s voting strategy for the 2027 general elections. During a town hall meeting in Abua-Odual Local Government Area, Wike, who leads the coalition, encouraged residents to strongly back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid for a second term.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike praised Tinubu’s administration for its role in stabilizing critical national sectors and restoring industrial harmony in tertiary institutions. He urged the residents to maintain their support for the current administration as the country approaches the 2027 elections.
Wike also called on the residents to vote for Mr. Kinsley Chinda as Rivers governor, Mr. Felix Obua for the Rivers West Senatorial District, and Solomon Boss for the Abua-Odual-Ahoada East Federal Constituency, with all candidates running under the All Progressives Congress (APC). In balancing the political equation, he allocated the Abua-Odual State Constituency to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and endorsed Mr. John Iderima as the PDP candidate for that position.
Emphasizing the coalition’s approach, Wike stated, “This is what we mean by rainbow, rainbow, rainbow. So all our votes, whether you’re in PDP, APC, we will put our votes together for Tinubu and all the candidates mentioned.”
Wike advised against electing leaders without a clear developmental vision, asserting that genuine leadership requires action and foresight. He warned against political candidates who treat elections like games of chance, drawing parallels to historical figures who pursued leadership with a clear national vision.
Reflecting on his tenure as governor, Wike highlighted the importance of project delivery over political rhetoric and challenged former governors to demonstrate their contributions to the local area. Mr. Chinda applauded Wike’s efforts, expressing commitment to sustaining the coalition’s approach when elected, emphasizing a bottom-up governance model.
Prof. Continue Eketu, representing the Abua-Odual communities, praised Wike’s leadership and expressed strong support for the Rainbow Coalition’s candidates, highlighting the projects executed during Wike’s tenure.
