Post: Foundation and Sanwo-Olu Provide Financial Aid for Pediatric Surgical Patients in Lagos Hospitals


Lagos: Orunsii Welcare Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has donated funds to three general hospitals to support pediatric surgical patients. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to vulnerable children whose families cannot afford the cost of surgical procedures. The donations were made at General Hospital Odan, Randle General Hospital in Surulere, and Alimosho General Hospital in Igando.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Project Coordinator of Orunsii, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin, emphasized that the foundation’s efforts are directed toward addressing the healthcare needs of children in financially constrained families. Dr. Sojinrin, who also serves as the Medical Director of Randle General Hospital, praised Dr. Sanwo-Olu for her commitment to aiding the foundation in its mission to improve the lives of children who are at the highest risk in society. He assured that this financial intervention would be an ongoing effort.



Since its inception in 2021, the Orunsii Welcare Foundation has focused on various areas, including mental health, elderly care, and environmental health promotion. Supporting children in need of pediatric surgery is a crucial part of their mission to enable them to lead normal lives. Dr. Sojinrin expressed gratitude to the First Lady for her unwavering support and dedication to child welfare.



Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu commended the foundation for its initiative, which aligns with her vision and that of the Lagos State government. She highlighted the partnership between her office and the Orunsii Welcare Foundation, emphasizing their shared commitment to enhancing the health and welfare of every Lagosian, particularly vulnerable children, youths, and the elderly. The First Lady applauded the foundation for its role in the 2025 Pediatric Surgical Care Initiative, which aims to provide essential medical care to children in need.



Dr. Aduke Mofe, Medical Director of General Hospital Odan, expressed appreciation for the foundation’s efforts to support pediatric surgical patients. Represented by Dr. Akinyele Akinlade, the Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Mofe assured that the funds would be used effectively to assist vulnerable patients. Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka, Medical Director of Alimosho General Hospital, also acknowledged the significant impact of the foundation’s support, noting that the fund would enable many children to receive necessary surgeries and improve their quality of life.
