Post: Russia Proposes Ethno-Gastronomic Tourism Association at BRICS Meeting

Moscow: Russia on Wednesday proposed the creation of the Association of Ethno-Gastronomic Tourism to strengthen cooperation between states and the private sector at the BRICS working group meeting. Nikita Kondratiev, Director of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, made the announcement on the ministry’s website.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Kondratiev highlighted that the accession of new members to BRICS expands not only the geographical reach but also the cultural diversity of the association, which can serve as a competitive advantage in promoting the tourism potential of the member states. He emphasized the rapid development of gastronomic travel globally in recent years.

Kondratiev further pointed out that this emerging trend could be linked to the rise in tourist spending, the growing popularity of niche tours, and travellers’ increasing interest in eco-friendly food.
