Post: INC Election: Okaba Denies Knowledge of Reversal on Candidate Disqualification

Yenagoa: Prof. Benjamin Okaba, the President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), has stated that he is unaware of any official communication regarding the reversal of the disqualification of certain candidates by the election committee.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okaba addressed the media in Yenagoa, emphasizing that the election committee’s decision remains in effect until an official statement indicates otherwise. His remarks were in response to speculation that the disqualification of two candidates for the March 7 election had been overturned.

“For now, these comments are mere rumours; we must be officially communicated by the election committee, and reasons must be given if such a decision is true,” Okaba asserted. He underscored that, as the INC president, he has not received any official communication about a change in the decision.

Okaba also praised the election committee for its initiative to transmit the election results electronically and in real time. He stated that this approach should ensure the immediate display of results, enhancing transparency and credibility, which aligns with global best practices.

The INC president expressed his confidence in the use of technology for the election due to its potential to deliver credibility, reliability, and transparency.
