Kaduna: The Kaduna State Judicial Service Commission has approved the promotion of 223 judiciary staff to various grade levels across different cadres. The commission has also approved and adopted new ‘Guidelines for Submission of Petitions in the Judiciary’ for immediate implementation.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this development was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary of the commission, Mr Murtala Halidu. The approval for the promotions was reached during the commission’s meeting held on August 11 and 12, chaired by Justice Muhammad Tukur Mu’azu Aliyu, the Chief Judge of Kaduna State.
The promotions, which are based on merit, involve 37 magistrates, 28 Alkalai (judges), 22 Customary Court Judges, and other staff. Additionally, the commission adopted the report from a committee investigating alleged misconduct by Mohammed Salisu, a Principal Registrar at the Chief Magistrate Court, Daura Road, Kaduna. Salisu is being investigated for the alleged unauthorized auction of three vehicles.
Halidu disclosed that the committee recommended Salisu’s prosecution while exculpating Aliyu Yakubu-Dogara, Deputy Chief Registrar, and Salisu Jibrin-Maigana, a bailiff, from any complicity. One of the vehicles, a Toyota Corolla, has already been recovered by the High Court.
The Secretary reiterated the commission’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and efficiency within the state’s judiciary.
