Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC has slashed the earlier price of Nomination forms for local government Chairmanship and Councilorship Positions.
This is coming, Following the outcry by some political parties on the amount fixed for nomination forms by candidates.
The State electoral body had earlier announced N10 million Naira for Chairmanship positions while N5 million Naira for Councilorship positions.
Dissatisfied with the price fixed, some political parties in the state challenged the decision of KANSIEC in court, where the court ordered the electoral body to stope imposing price of Nomination forms to political parties.
At a media briefing, the Chairman of KANSIEC, Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi announced that, the new price for the Nomination forms was now N9 million Naira while that of Councilorship was N4 million Naira.

he court.
‘We as an institution respect the court, but we feel pained in reducing the price,’ he said.
He expressed happiness with the commitment of political parties to participate in the council elections, especially the All Progressives Congress, APC and other opposition parties.
This, Malumfashi explained, was an indication of confidence the opposition parties have on the state electoral body.
‘We welcomed the decision of the parties to participate,’ he stated.
He expressed the determination of the state electoral body to conduct free, fair and credible elections in Kano state.
Malumfashi called on the political parties to submit names of nominated or elected candidates to the Commission as primary elections are expected to end Saturday 14th of September.
Malumfashi enjoyed political parties to desist from hate speech by focusing on issues that improves the lives of the people.
‘Please hammer on issues that are affecting the people not personality attacks. Unemployment is an issue, Education is a
n issue, Health, flooding, security, industrialization and many other issues,’ he said.
