Freetown: The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation convened a coordination meeting on February 26, 2026, mobilizing government agencies for the upcoming 20th ECOWAS Ministerial Meeting on ICT, Telecom, and Digitalization. Mr. Mohamed M. Jalloh, Chief Director of Communication, Technology and Innovation, addressed representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies at the 10:00 AM gathering. Opening with an apology for the Minister and Permanent Secretary’s absence due to concurrent engagements, he confirmed ECOWAS formally requested Sierra Leone provide safety facilities for the regional gathering.

According to Sierra Leone News Agency, the ministerial meeting now runs March 23rd to 27th, 2026, rescheduled from November 2025 due to sub-regional commitments and overlapping schedules across member states. Jalloh outlined comprehensive committee structures established to ensure seamless execution. “Each individual plays a vital role,” he emphasized, announcing specialized sub-comm
ittees covering protocol and diplomatic affairs, logistics and accommodation, safety and security, technical and conference management, first-aid health, tourism and cultural events, and transportation coordination.

The programme unfolds in distinct segments. Experts convene March 23rd through 26th, tackling technical discussions surrounding telecommunications infrastructure, ICT policy frameworks, and digitalization strategies across West Africa. Ministers join proceedings March 27th, reviewing expert recommendations and adopting formal resolutions. Security preparations received particular attention, with comprehensive planning extending from airport arrival through hotel accommodations. Jalloh confirmed media partnerships, ensuring complete coverage throughout the week-long engagement.

Participants raised questions addressed thoroughly during the session, fostering collaborative momentum across represented institutions. Concluding remarks celebrated exceptional attendance figures. “Today marks one of our
most successful coordination meetings,” Jalloh noted, challenging committee members to showcase Sierra Leone as a premier tourist destination through exemplary programme delivery.
