Post: Neurospark FC Targets NNL Promotion as Club Secures NLO Play-Off Spot

Abuja: Neurospark FC Coach, Sola Morakinyo, says the club’s target is to secure promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) after qualifying for the playoffs stage of the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season. Morakinyo spoke after his team emerged as winners of the Area 10 group in Abuja, with 17 points from seven matches and a superior goal difference of +10. The first-time campaigners edged NAF FC, who also finished with 17 points but had an inferior goal difference.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Neurospark sealed qualification with a 3-1 victory over Crown Tee FC in the final group game played simultaneously with other fixtures at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, and the Area 3 Sports Complex in Abuja. “We aim to get this team promoted to the NNL, and we believe with hard work and God’s help, we can achieve it,” Morakinyo said. He described the qualification as a reward for the hard work and belief within the team, noting that the spirit of the players has been high from the first match.

The
coach admitted that the team still has areas to improve on despite the qualification. “We missed many scoring chances, so there is a lot of work to do. We will continue working on those areas in training so that we can improve,” he said. Additionally, the club’s captain, Mohammed Hamza, credited the team’s success to proper preparation and strong mentality among the players and coaching crew. “We prepared very well before the tournament. The mentality of the players, the coaches, and the training sessions all contributed to our success,” Hamza said.

NAF FC defeated King City FC 3-0 in their final group match but narrowly missed out on qualification due to goal difference. King City FC finished third on the table with 11 points, followed by Likeminds FC with nine points. Crown Tee FC ended with eight points, while NSCDC FC recorded seven points. Daniel FC finished with six points while De Royal Galaxy FC ended at the bottom with two points.
