Abuja:Dr. Esther Okereke, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, has pledged to ensure that grassroots communities will experience the benefits of good governance if she is elected as Nigeria’s next president. She emphasized her commitment to improving basic infrastructure, including roads and railways.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okereke discussed her presidential aspirations during an interview in Abuja, highlighting her personal understanding of the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians. She noted that unlike many elites, she regularly experiences these challenges firsthand by traveling local roads, visiting markets, and using community healthcare services.
Okereke asserted that the NRM has established a comprehensive organizational presence across Nigeria, with networks in all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and 774 local government areas. She emphasized the party’s strong voter mobilization efforts across the country’s 176,000 polling units.
She criticized the poor state of inter-state roads, citing their negative impact on economic growth and safety. Okereke shared her own experience of hardship due to dilapidated highways during a recent family funeral trip. She argued that neglecting infrastructure and economic empowerment leaves citizens vulnerable to vote-buying.
Okereke encouraged Nigerians to hold leaders accountable by using their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) wisely, rather than succumbing to short-term financial incentives during elections. She urged those dissatisfied with joblessness and inadequate infrastructure to support her candidacy for significant change.
Advising citizens to accept election handouts as their right, Okereke stressed the importance of voting for accountability and competency. She promised to be a responsive leader who prioritizes the needs of the people, positioning herself as their servant and representative in decision-making processes.
