Post: PDP National Woman Leader Endorses Adebutu’s Governorship Candidacy in Ogun


Abeokuta: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Woman Leader, Prof. Adenike Ogunshe, has expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun, Mr. Oladipupo Adebutu, predicting his victory in the 2027 election.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Ogunshe made this statement during a thank-you visit to the party’s governorship candidate and PDP leaders in Ogun. The purpose of the visit was to express gratitude for selecting a woman as the deputy governorship candidate. Ogunshe emphasized that the PDP is approaching the 2027 general elections with strategic plans and a commitment to understanding the aspirations of the Ogun people, ensuring that the benefits of democracy are extended to every household and community in the state if elected.



Ogunshe highlighted the dedication of women to the party’s mission, stating, “We believe strongly in our mission, and when women believe in something, they commit themselves fully to it.” She praised Adebutu as a candidate who has learned from the party’s national, grassroots, and women leaders. She asserted that the PDP possesses the strategies and capabilities to elevate Ogun to greater heights, offering value that the state has not experienced before.



Ogunshe called on the people of Ogun and Nigerians to support the PDP, advocating for a return to a time when Nigerians felt hopeful and optimistic about the future. She emphasized collaboration with PDP diaspora groups to support the party’s candidates across Nigeria and expressed a vision that extends beyond politics, aiming for Nigerians abroad to be proud of their identity.



She acknowledged the economic challenges faced by Nigerian women and commended the decision to choose a woman as the deputy governorship candidate. In response, Adebutu appreciated the national woman leader’s visit and acknowledged the vital role women play in national progress, stating that his choice of a female running mate recognizes the sacrifices women make and complies with constitutional provisions.



Alhaja Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, expressed her gratitude for the acceptance she has received from the people of Ogun. Mrs. Titilola Adeyemi, the PDP Woman Leader in Ogun, encouraged residents to support the PDP for positive change.



The visit was accompanied by PDP women leaders from Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo States, and included a presentation of gifts to the PDP governorship candidate by the party’s National Woman Leader.
