Sunyani: The Penkwasi District of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of the Mid-west Ghana Conference (MWGC) has donated sanitation materials valued at GHS20,000 to three basic schools in the Sunyani Municipality to enhance sanitation and waste management.
According to Ghana News Agency, the beneficiary schools include Sunyani Municipal Assembly Basic School, High Street Basic School, and Penkwasi Adventist Preparatory School. Each school received items such as washing basins, dustbins, dustpans, and washing soap to aid in maintaining a clean environment.
Pastor Maxwell Obour Boateng Awuah, President of the MWGC, announced during a ceremony in Sunyani that the donation is part of the activities planned to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the conference. He emphasized the conference’s dedication to improving hygiene and fostering healthy school environments, highlighting the church’s commitment to positively impacting local communities.
District Pastor Atta Boakye stated that the church plans to conduct more community-focused activities that directly benefit the people as part of the celebration. He noted that these initiatives align with the church’s broader mission of service and outreach.
Elder Dr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Chairman of the District Planning Committee for the celebration, praised the church for its commitment and active participation. Headteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed their gratitude, noting that the donation would significantly improve waste management, sanitation, and hygiene standards in their schools.
Pastor Edward Opoku, Director of Education at the North Central Ghana Union Mission of the SDA, attended the event.
