Abuja: President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, to replace Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite. Uzoka-Anite will now transition to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this development was disclosed in a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja. President Tinubu has officially informed the Senate of Oyedele’s nomination through a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seeking confirmation.
Prior to this nomination, Oyedele served as the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which played a significant role in overhauling Nigeria’s tax system. Oyedele, aged 50, is originally from Ikaram, Akoko, in Ondo and holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and has completed executive education programmes at prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before his nomination, Oyedele had a long tenure at PwC, spanning 22 years, where he became Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
