Post: Wike Commends Rivers Assembly for Support of President Tinubu


Port harcourt: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed his appreciation for the members of the Rivers House of Assembly, acknowledging their support for President Bola Tinubu amidst challenging circumstances.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Wike’s commendation was made during a visit to the lawmakers at the House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt. Mr. Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the minister on Public Communications and Social Media, conveyed Wike’s message, highlighting the lawmakers’ commitment to standing for what is right and their capacity to lead with integrity.



Mr. Wike emphasized the importance of continuing to uphold democratic principles, recognizing the Rivers Assembly as a beacon of democracy in the country. He criticized the withholding of the lawmakers’ entitlements by the Rivers Government prior to the State of Emergency declaration, describing it as an unjust consequence of political disagreement.



The minister also expressed gratitude for a car gift from the Assembly members and praised their collective efforts for the welfare of the people of Rivers. Mr. Wike remarked on the unique collaboration within the State House of Assembly, noting their dedication to the state’s development and their distinct role as a legislative body, independent of other governmental branches.
