Kathmandu: One hundred ninety-three office bearers under the Ministry of Health and Population have been terminated from office. They were politically appointed by the previous government.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a press release issued on Tuesday by the Joint-Spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, stated that these officials have been removed in accordance with Clause 2 (1) of the Ordinance to Make Special Provisions Regarding the Removal of Public Officials, 2083 BS. A process has begun to send letters to the affected office-bearers, notifying them of their removal from their posts.
The ordinance has led to the dismissal of officials from various bodies, including the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Patan Academy of Health Sciences, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Health Insurance Board, Nepal Health Research Council, Nepal Medical Council, and Nepal Health Professional Council. Dr. Adhikari noted that these officials have been relieved of their duties effective from the date of the ordinance’s issuance.
The ordinance, aimed at making special provisions regarding the removal of public officials, was issued by President Ramchandra Paudel on May 2.
