Post: Dangote Cement Supports Jakura Community with Scholarships and Empowerment Initiatives

Jakura:Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, has bolstered its support for the Jakura community by awarding scholarships and initiating empowerment programs for local farmers and market women.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Plant Director of the Obajana Plant, Azad Nawabuddin, highlighted that these initiatives are part of the company’s commitment to its Community Development Agreement. Represented by Prince Ademola Adeyemi, Head of Social Performance at the plant, Nawabuddin emphasized the program’s focus on students, farmers, and market women, reflecting Dangote Cement’s dedication to sustainable development, poverty reduction, and economic empowerment within its host communities.

During the ceremony, it was revealed that 20 tertiary institution students and 60 secondary school students received educational grants totaling several million Naira. Additionally, 20 farmers were given essential farming tools and funds to boost agricultural productivity and secure food supply in the community. Furthermore, 20 market women received start-up capital and business support to enhance their enterprises and household incomes.

The event drew numerous stakeholders, including traditional rulers, government representatives, and community leaders such as Oba Usman Ajibola, the Obaro of Jakura, and representatives from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Chief Bonibade Ajiboye, Chairman of the Jakura CDA Committee, expressed gratitude to Dangote Cement for its ongoing commitment, noting the nearing completion of an electrification project as part of their efforts.

The Obaro of Jakura praised Dangote Cement for its continuous developmental contributions to the community, describing the empowerment initiative as a testament to the company’s dedication to improving local welfare. He assured that the community would sustain these projects and ensure beneficiaries utilize their benefits effectively, while also extending prayers for continued blessings on Dangote’s philanthropic endeavors.
