Post: Farm Manager Jailed 8 Months for Stealing 30 Crates of Eggs


Kaduna: A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 27-year-old farm manager, Israel Tony, to eight months in prison for stealing 30 crates of eggs. Tony, a resident of Barnawa Kaduna, was charged with stealing.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, sentenced Tony to eight months imprisonment without an option of fine. Emmanuel also ordered him to pay N243,000 to the complainant as compensation.



Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, informed the court that the offence was committed by the convict sometime between February and April at Maraba Rido in Kaduna. The report was made by Williams Dogo, of Sabon Tasha Kaduna, who filed a complaint at Sabon Tasha Police Station on April 22.



Leo stated that Tony, who was employed as a manager at the complainant’s farm, stole 30 crates of eggs. The theft was discovered when the complainant identified discrepancies in the account book, leading to Tony’s arrest. Upon arrest, Tony confessed to the crime and admitted to selling the stolen eggs to a buyer, Bello Aminu, who is currently at large.



The prosecutor added that Tony’s actions violated the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
